Social Work

Social work is a profession for those who enjoy helping in other people's lives. Social workers hepl people by helping them deal with their everyday lives, helping them get through any problems that they may have. This includes dealing with any problems such as some kind of disease they may have, or dealing with abuse. They also help people with family problems, but most of the time dealing with child, or spousal abuse.


Social workers may assist to improve in family's lives. They may deal with single parents, setting up adoptions, or they may also assist foster care homes to deal with children who may have been abandoned or abused. Some even work to assist senior citizens. Social workers may run support groups for the family's.


In school social workers are dealing with students to ensure that they reach their academic and personal potential. They also deal with problems such as, mis behavior, truancy, and teenage pregnancy. They advise teachers on how to cope with difficult students.


Social workers are also known as Child Warefare Social Workers, Family Services Social Workers, Child Protective Social Workers, and much more. They usually work with family's, schools, and State or local Government.


Medical and public health social workers help people, or family's with mental ilness such as cancer, or AID'S. They also counsel patients. They may arrange for At-home services. They may also deal with patients with Substance abuse problems such as abuse of alcohol, tabacco, or other drugs.


Social workers usually spend most of their time in an office, but they also may travel locally to visit clients, and to attened meetings. Social workers may work to a total of 40 hours a week.
